I am Nicole Conrad, I have 28 years of experience in the cosmetology field. I am Hairpolice trained and specialize in dreadlocks, dreadperms, and hair extensions, from very natural to very dramatic.

I have been a Cosmetology Instructor at Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College since moving to the Asheville area in 2011.  I taught all levels of cosmetology classes at AB Tech from beginner to advanced, and co-taught in the esthetics department.

My favorite of all classes to teach is COS260- an advanced creative class that focuses on cosmetology history, in depth makeup application special effects and Avant Garde makeup.

COS 260 is also a capstone class where students apply what has been learned throughout the cosmetology program.  They think critically, write a research paper and prepare a final model and student presentation/competition.

When I’m not doing hair or teaching, my son and I make and sell handmade accessories with good vibes on Etsy! 🥰💖🌈✌🏻

I was born and raised in Okemos, MI. After high school I attended Western Michigan University, where I received a Bachelor’s of Art Degree in Fine Art.

I went on to attend beauty school at the Aveda Institute in Minneapolis, MN, where I also met and trained with Sonia Peterson of Hairpolice in dreadlocks and pinch braid extension techniques.

Throughout the years, I have continued my advanced training with Vidal Sassoon, Aveda, Dermalogica and more;

I most recently obtained my Executive Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Grand Canyon University.

I was the owner, operator, stylist and instructor at Blue Monkey hair salon and cosmetology school in Santa Fe, NM until it’s closure in 2008.  I have a passion for education and enjoy interacting with students and coworkers. My goal is to use my creativity, honesty, positive encouragement, and listening skills to create respectful relationships with those around me.
